The WTC's
annual membership campaign kicks-off September 1. The lucky WTC
member who sponsors the most new members between September 1 and
December 31 will win the grand prize -- round-trip tickets for
two to Paris, plus a three night stay. Imagine, you could be
visiting France during the historic bicentennial year of the
Louisiana Purchase!
It's
easier than you think! Simply send the WTC Membership Department
by mail, fax (529-1691) or email (nrideau@wtcno.org) the names
and addresses of your prospective members. Our staff will then
follow-up with individually tailored letters, inviting your
friends and colleagues to become WTC members. It's that simple!
Each time a prospect whom you sponsor becomes a member, you will
also receive a $50 gift certificate for food and beverages in
the Plimsoll Club!
In
addition, the second place winner will receive a two-night stay
at the luxurious Beau Rivage Resort and Casino in Biloxi,
including dinner for two at La Cucina and two tickets to the
featured show at the time.
Our
third place winner will receive a "Weekend in Cajun
Country" including overnight accomodations, dinner for two
at a local restaurant and tickets to area attractions, courtesy
of the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Bureau.
In
addition to these prizes, we have a special gift for the member
who sponsors the most new members each month of the campaign!
Our September winner will receive dinner for two at Midi South
of France Restaurant in the Meridien Hotel in New Orleans, where
the winner and a guest will be treated to wonderful French
cuisine and be inspired to win the grand prize trip!
Special
thanks go to our campaign sponsors Beau Rivage Resort &
Casino, The Lafayette Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Le
Meridien for their support. (Be sure to view the special rates
that Le Meridien offers WTC members at the "Member's
Only" section of our website!).

The
World Trade Center and the Port of New Orleans will sponsor a
luncheon seminar on "Louisiana Foreign Trade Zones--How
Your Business Can Profit" in the Plimsoll Club on Friday,
September 20 from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 p.m.
Foreign
trade zones are designated sites licensed by the FTZ Board (the
Secretary of Commerce is Chairman) at which special Customs
procedures may be used. FTZ procedures allow domestic activity
involving foreign items to take place as if it were outside U.S.
Customs territory, thus offsetting Customs advantages available
to overseas producers who export in competition with products
made here.
For
more information or to register for the seminar, call the WTC at
(504) 529-1601, ext. 222, or register on-line at http://www.wtcno.org/programs.
