WTCA General Assembly in Nova Scotia in Fall

The 33rd Annual General Assembly of the World Trade Centers Association will be held in Halifax, Nova Scotia on September 29 - October 2. The gathering of WTC representatives from around the world includes trade seminars and briefings, a trade show, matchmaking appointments with leading Canadian companies, and special post-assembly tours. This is a great worldwide networking opportunity and trade event in Canada for all WTC New Orleans members.

Atlantic Canada’s history of international trade, along with plentiful natural resources, location, and highly educated workforce, has allowed the region to develop a strong modern economy. Offshore oil and gas development is positioning the region as a major energy provider to the Eastern United States. The port of Halifax provides a gateway to almost 400 million NAFTA customers, and the high-tech workforce has made Atlantic Canada companies leaders in the IT and life sciences sectors.

The WTC is organizing a delegation to attend the WTCA General Assembly in Halifax. For more information, including registration, trade show, travel arrangements, and post-assembly tours to Newfoundland, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island, visit the WTC Atlantic Canada website at http://www.acwtc.com/wtca2002/index.cfm. Companies will have the opportunity to showcase their products in one-on-one meetings with 15 Latin American port authority officials directly responsible for the development of these projects, which could hold significant business and export potential for Louisiana companies. SPOTLIGHT ON WTC BENEFITS: RECIPROCAL CLUBS

The WTC is receiving lots of positive feedback as more and more members discover wonderful dining experiences and amenities at over 100 reciprocal clubs in North America. As you make your travel plans, be sure to remember these tips for utilizing the reciprocal club program:

• Contact Marketing Assistant Carolyn Hightower at 529-1601 ext. 220 in advance so she can send a letter of introduction on your behalf to the clubs of your choice. Please note that all private clubs require such notification, while World Trade Centers do not. Entrance to a club can be denied without the appropriate introduction. Also, please take your membership card for proof of identification and account reference number.

• Contact the reciprocal club directly for dining reservations, guest room accommodations (if applicable), and any other pertinent information such as parking availability, preferred method of payment and guest usage fees. Many clubs will bill directly to your WTC New Orleans account, though there is a $500 credit limit for all transactions. If charges are anticipated to exceed the $500 credit limit, special arrangements can be made with the reciprocal club for direct billing.

• View the entire list of reciprocal clubs on the "Members Only" section of the website (www.wtcno.org) in a searchable format. You can access that area with your username & password and ID, which consists of your name (lower case and no spaces) plus your member number. You can also view the entire list of WTCs worldwide at www.wtca.org.

• Restrictions: Please note the reciprocal club program has been designed as a traveling benefit. The policy does exclude a WTC New Orleans member from using a dining facility in another city if that member lives within 50 miles of the facility.

Please contact the Membership Department if you have any questions about the services, facilities or resources mentioned above at 529-1601 ext. 220 or 226.
