Join
us at the Plimsoll Club for a Gourmet Dinner & Wine
Tasting on Saturday, October 20 at 7:15 P.M. Our theme is
"The Wines of Australia." Max Zander, wine expert,
will lead us through this evening of gastronomic delights from
the "land down under."
Two
of the principal reds, Shiraz and Pinot Noir, share a rich and
slightly fruity profile. The two grapes, while offering
different flavor palettes, are compatible enough to be blended
together.
Australia
has made a name for itself in the United States with its
wildly popular lush and oaky Chardonnays and sparkling wine.
During
the white wine boom in the 1970s, the standard for Australian
Chardonnays was set: low in acidity, round and generous with
soft, ripe melon and fig flavors, plus plenty of butter and
vanilla.
Enjoy
this fabulous feast, including cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and
musical entertainment for only $85.00 per person! Make
reservations by calling Shelley Cantrelle or Marc Garcia at
529-1701.
Please
be sure to cancel by noon on Thursday, October 18, or full
billing will apply. Ask for your cancellation number.
Enjoy
complimentary validated parking in the WTC garage.

Don’t
forget that WTC members may offer the use of the Plimsoll Club
for lunch or dinner up to four times a year to a friend,
relative or business colleague. It’s a great way to
introduce prospective members to the Club. (An unlimited
number of cards may be requested, but a particular non-member
guest may use the club only up to four times a year, after
which we hope your guest will decide to become a member.) The
cards have a thirty-day expiration period and they may not be
used for Plimsoll Club special events.
All
charges for a member’s guest will be billed to the member’s
account. If you would like to request a guest card, please
contact Natalie Rideau in the Membership Department at
529-1601 ext. 226. You will be asked to provide the guests
name and address and anticipated month of usage. |

expanded directory also includes other Louisiana plants not
covered in Homesite’s Lower Mississippi River Directory,
which is also available through the WTC. The cost of the new
Lake Charles Directory is $35.00 for WTC members. To purchase
the directory, or for additional information on the WTC’s

Energy Security," featured Venezuelan Ambassador to the
U.S. Ignacio Arcaya. At a special luncheon program on August
29, Prime Minister of Jamaica P.J. Patterson spoke on
"Jamaica-Louisiana Opportunities for Trade and
Tourism."
Both
speeches can be accessed on the WTC website at www.wtcno.org/programs/2001/index.html.
Videotapes of the programs are also available at a cost of $10
for WTC members. To order a videotape call (504) 529-1601,
ext. 271, or visit the WTC’s online store at www.wtcno.org/cgi-bin/quikstore.cgi. |

We
thank those of you who called to express your interest and
concern about the welfare of the personnel of the World Trade
Centers Association headquarters located on the 77th floor of
WTC New York’s Tower #1. We were relieved to learn that all
of the staff escaped unharmed. Our hearts go out to the many
victims in both New York and Washington who were not so
fortunate, and to their families. Reflecting on the recent
tragic events, I am sure you will agree that the common
mission of all World Trade Centers of promoting world peace
through trade and commerce never seemed so important as it
does today.
