The Plimsoll Club cordially invites you to enjoy A Festive Italian Night on Saturday, March 13

7:00 - 8:00 p.m. -- Cocktails, featuring Italian specialities and hors d'oeuvres, including a pasta station, in the Galvez Room. Entertainment will be provided by Ron Abel on the accordion.

7:45 p.m. -- Our fabulous buffet opens, resplendent with garlic soup, an array of salads, veal spiedini, seafood cannelloni, vegetable lasagna and seafood risotto, just to name a few. Prepared to order will be cheese ravioli marinara, rigatoni with four cheeses and fettuccine pesto. For the perfect finishing touch, cannolis, pastries and an assortment of Italian cheese will be presented for the pleasure of your palate.

8:30 p.m. - 12:30 a.m. -- Dancing during and after dinner to Herb Tassin and his band.

The cost of this festa is only $49.50 per person, which includes the cocktail party with hors d'oeuvres, the lavish buffet and dancing music. Make your reservations by calling Claire Stockton or Marc Garcia at 529-1701.

Cancellations and changes must be received by noon on Thursday, March 11 or full billing will apply. As always, complimentary validated parking in the WTC garage is available. .



Celebrate St. Patrickšs Day with us on March 17

Irish eyes will be smiling at the Plimsoll Club on Wednesday, March 17 for our St. Patrick's Day luncheon buffet, beginning at 11:45 a.m.

From County Mayo in the north to County Cork in the south, we offer you a sampling of the very best of Irish cuisine. Evolving with the social changes of the past few years, Irish cooking has become much more confident.
Irish dishes, guided by a new generation of cooks and chefs who take their work seriously, offer a delectable diversity that will delight your palate.

A sample of menu items includes: leek and potato soup, a delicious array of salads, Irish lamb stew, corned beef and cabbage, salmon filled boxty, sauteed oysters with shallots and cream in brioche, champ (traditional mashed potatoes with green onions), golden pineapple and caramel cake with cream and much more.

Sample Early Menu Before Going Out to Parades!

Going to the theatre, the symphony or just enjoying a night on the town? We offer a delicious Early Evening menu from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays through Thursdays when the a la carte menu is offered.

Our Early Evening menu begins with starters such as crawfish cakes with tartar sauce, grilled andouille sausage with turnip greens and black-eyed peas, soup du jour and Caesar and Plimsoll salads.

Our main courses provide a choice of Chicken Lafitte, Tilapia Pecan or Veal Piccata. Desserts include carrot cake, sherbert du jour, chocolate mousse or bread pudding with praline sauce.

The cost is $14.75 per person. Two hours of complimentary validated parking is included in this special price.

Captain Delesdernier to Receive Bertel Award

On Thursday, March 11, Capt. Mark Delesdernier, Jr., will be the honored recipient of the 1999 C. Alvin Bertel Award at a luncheon in the Plimsoll Club for his significant contribution to the advancement of the Greater New Orleans port area. To make reservations, call the WTC at (504) 529-1601, ext. 254.

Capt. Delesdernier has been president of the Crescent River Port Pilots Association for the past 16 years and is the current chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans.

His professional, business and civic life has been dedicated to the economic health and vitality of the maritime industry in Louisiana.
Capt. Delesdernier has participated in numerous public and private efforts to enhance navigation safety, attract new business and industry and increase international trade.

He continues to serve as an advisor and consultant to international, national, state and local boards and committees on navigation safety.The Bertel Award was established in 1967. It is named after C. Alvin Bertel, who became the prime mover in the early 1940s in bringing about a constitutional amendment that provided for the non-political selection of port commissioners.



Spotlight on WTC Benefits: Lakewood Country Club

Through a special arrangement between the WTC and Lakewood Country Club, WTC members may use the facilities at Lakewood up to six times for tennis and golf and receive a special rate.

Lakewood Country Club is located less than five miles from the WTC.
