Spotlight on WTC Benefits: New Reciprocal Clubs

The Historic Georgetown Club

Because so many WTC New Orleans members travel on a regular basis to our nation's capital, we are pleased to announce the Historic Georgetown Club as a new reciprocal club. This beautiful facility is available in addition to the popular University Club located on 16th Street.

The Georgetown Club, located on Wisconsin Avenue in the heart of Georgetown, has been a center for entertaining prominent personages for over 30 years. The Club resides in three old townhouses, including the landmark 1700's building known as Suter's Tavern, where George Washington and Pierre L'Enfant met to plan the Federal City. The graceful common rooms are filled with imported 16th and 18th century paneling, intricate wrought iron and Baccarat crystal chandeliers. The seven uniquely appointed private dining rooms can seat from two to one hundred guests, each with a separate reception area. For further information, please call (202)333-9330.

Clubhaus

Clubhaus, Europe's leading owner and operator of golf and country clubs, is a fabulous new addition to WTC New Orleans' reciprocal club program. WTC members now can enjoy access to 17 dining, golf and country clubs in the United Kingdom, France, Belgium and Germany.

For further information, please contact Natalie Rideau at 529-1601, ext. 226.

"It has been said that great events enhance the lives of all who participate. We want to express our thanks for the significant role you played in producing the 'great event' for our retirement. We were dazzled from the moment we entered the room to the moment we left. It is easy to praise when praise is merited. Your work is distinguished with class for which we personally convey our gratitude."

Jack and Edith Sassone

Call the PC about Holiday Parties!

Autumn is just around the corner and cool weather will be here soon. It's time to book space for your holiday parties at the Plimsoll Club.

We have very few available weekend dates left for evening parties, so call Pam Corrigan or Margie Ellinghausen at 529-1701 right away to reserve space for your holiday bash.

In keeping with the holiday spirit, we have a special offer for holiday office luncheons during the month of December.

We'll give everyone in attendance a complimentary glass of champagne with dessert. In addition, we'll organize a drawing for a Plimsoll Club apron colored royal blue with white lettering and piping.

This offer applies only to luncheons held in private rooms with a banquet menu served. Group luncheons in the main dining room or those selecting the a la carte menu or buffet are excluded from this offer.

State Department Assigns Officer to WTC

The U.S. Department of State has assigned Robert Konrath, a highly experienced career Foreign Service Officer, to the World Trade Center for a one-year period which started August 1 under the Department's Pearson Program.

Four such officers (Ed Olson, Bob Day, Mel Harrison and Ismael Lara) previously served at the WTC under this program -- the most officers assigned to any one organization in the country. Only seven Pearson officers in total have been assigned throughout the U.S. this year.

Bob is a native of California and has degrees and additional graduate studies from Stanford, Princeton and the University of North Carolina in political science, German and economics. He joined the Foreign Service in 1979 and has served abroad in economic-commercial positions at U.S. embassies and missions in Lagos, Nigeria; Asuncion, Paraguay; Harare, Zimbabwe; Kingston, Jamaica; Geneva, Switzerland; and Santiago, Chile. We look forward to having you meet Bob Konrath and his family soon.
