Gone with the Wind: Back Issues

The Plimsoll Club cordially invites you to enjoy Fun & Fireworks for the Whole Family on Saturday, July 4

Independence Day will close with a bang as you and your family view the spectacular fireworks display lighting up the riverfront from the unparalleled vantage point of the Plimsoll Club.

The informal buffet dinner will feature your favorite barbecue and Louisiana specialties. The evening begins at 7:00 p.m., and the fireworks are scheduled for approximately 9:00 p.m.

Enjoy our fabulous buffet, including assorted salads, jambalaya, crawfish etouffe, barbecue ribs, fried chicken and catfish, macaroni & cheese, hamburgers with all the trimmings, and a lavish selection of desserts, to name a few.

Musical entertainment will be provided by Pierre Descant's Cajun quartet. Caricature artist Bob Budro and a balloonist will also entertain the guests.

And, of course, we offer the best seats in the city for the spectacular Independence Day fireworks extravaganza.

The cost of the dinner and full evening's entertainment is just $24.95 for adults and $12.95 for children under 10. Casual attire is recommended. Complimentary parking is available in the WTC garage. Just bring your ticket to the club for validation.

Taste a Caribbean Lunch Buffet July 24

Let us bring the Caribbean to you on Friday, July 24. Cruise on up to the Plimsoll Club for a feast of tropical treats for only $15.95!

The chef will prepare a plethora of palate-pleasing dishes to include St. Croix seafood salad, calico bean salad, tropical fruit salad, conch chowder, mahi mahi with avocado beurre blanc, crab stuffed shrimp, curried chicken with cashews, whole roasted pig with mango chutney, boneless leg of lamb with papaya-mint sauce, Barbados rum cake, bananas flambeed with pina coloda sauce and much more!

To complement this island bounty, we offer a delicious rum punch for only $1.95 each.

Set sail for the Plimsoll Club now by calling 529-1701 for reservations. Cancel by Wednesday, July 22 at noon and ask for your cancellation number or full billing will apply. As always, complimentary validated parking is available for three hours during lunch.



Enjoy French Night at the PC on Saturday, July 18

July is always a festive month for the French. In keeping with that "joie de vivre," the Plimsoll Club is hosting an evening filled with music, dancing, our sensational buffet and a drawing for two free tickets to Paris.

7:15 p.m.

The cocktail hour features imported champagne, a variety of French wines, elegant aperitifs and conventional cocktails. During this prelude to dinner, an abundant display of French "charcuterie" will be showcased. Accordionist Ron Able will serenade you with traditional French melodies.

8:15 p.m.

Our magnificent buffet opens, overflowing with delicacies such as fresh Norwegian salmon with fenouil, chateaubriand, rack of lamb Forestiere, assorted pates and smoked salmon. In addition, we will have many of your all-time favorites, including iced shrimp and lobster Bellevue. Crepes Suzette and Bananas Foster will accompany a grand array of pastries and cheese.

8:30 p.m. - 12:30 a.m.

A highlight of the festivities will be a drawing for two round trip tickets to France, compliments of Continental Airlines. Easy Parking at WTC Garage

The 1,000-car WTC parking garage is conveniently located on Poydras Street next to the Hilton Hotel and across the street from the WTC Building. The garage is just steps away from Riverwalk and a five-minute walk from the CBD, the Warehouse District and the French Quarter. The garage offers safe, covered parking and is accessible 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Competitively priced daily and monthly rates are available.

Christmas in July? Call the Plimsoll Club

The holidays and cool weather may seem to be far in the future but it's not too early to book space for Christmas parties at the Plimsoll Club. We have very few available weekend dates left for evening parties, so call Barbara Montgomery or Pam Corrigan at 529-1701 right away to reserve space for your holiday bash.

In keeping with the holiday spirit, we have a special offer for holiday office luncheons during the month of December.

We'll give everyone in attendance a complimentary glass of champagne with dessert. In addition, we'll organize a drawing for a Plimsoll Club apron colored royal blue with white lettering and piping.

This offer applies only to luncheons held in private rooms with a banquet menu served.

Group luncheons in the main dining room or those selecting the a la carte menu or buffet are excluded from this offer.

The PC's Summer Hours Set

In observation of Independence Day, the Plimsoll Club and WTC offices will be closed all day on Friday, July 3.

The Plimsoll Club will be open for lunch but closed for dinner (except for special event dinners) during the month of July and the first two weeks of August.

The club will be closed completely for the last two weeks of August.

The Plimsoll Club will reopen for lunch and dinner on Tuesday, September 1.

Spotlight on WTC Benefits: Rivercenter Racquet & Health Club

Through a special arrangement with the Rivercenter Racquet and Health Club, which is located in the New Orleans' Hilton Riverside on Poydras Street next to the WTC building, WTC members are invited to join without paying the regular initiation fee.

The Rivercenter offers an extensive array of services: indoor tennis, racquetball, squash, an indoor golf studio, complete weight room, basketball court, fitness classes, saunas, whirlpools and locker room facilities.

Following are the Rivercenter's membership levels and corresponding monthly dues:

Gold Membership (Includes all club facilities) -- Initiation fee: $250 (waived); Monthly dues: single, $85; family, $100.

Silver Membership (Excludes indoor tennis, includes all other club services) -- Initiation fee: $75 (waived); Monthly dues: single $50; family, $60.

Bronze Membership (Includes all health and fitness facilities, aerobics and wet areas; Excludes racquet sports) -- Initiation fee: $25 (waived); Monthly dues: single, $50; family, $60.
