The Plimsoll Club cordially invites you to enjoy a romantic Valentine's Dinner Dance on February 14

Dining CoupleGive your sweetheart a Valentine's Day to remember: dinner and dancing at the Plimsoll Club on Saturday, February 14. Drink in the sparkling panorama of the Crescent City at night while dancing to your favorite love songs, compliments of Herb Tassin and his band.

Dine on our sumptuous buffet, replete with smoked salmon, iced shrimp, leg of lamb, prime rib of beef, red snapper topped with lump crabmeat and our fabulous array of sweets for your sweetheart.

A romantic evening wouldn't be complete without the sounds of corks popping, so we include with your dinner a complimentary bottle of champagne or wine for each couple.

The cost of the evening is only $35.95 per person! Call 529-1701 to make reservations for the time you prefer between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m.

Dancing is scheduled from 7:30 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. Complimentary validated parking is available in the WTC garage.

If you must cancel, please do so by noon on Thursday, February 12 or full billing will apply. Ask for your cancellation number to avoid discrepancies.

Due to this special event, the a la carte menu will not be offered.

 



Luncheon Buffet Travels to AsiaGreat Wall

Join us for a Taste of Asia and the Pacific Rim luncheon buffet on Friday, February 27. Explore the wonders of this exotic cuisine featuring egg flower soup, Szechwan beef and pepper salad, Mandarin chicken, Singapore shrimp and snow peas, Indonesian baked snapper, Chinese barbecued pork loin, Indian rice pudding, Pakistani shortbread and Philippine mango ice cream, to name a few!

Celebrate Carnival at the PC's Luncheon Buffet Feb. 16-20

Enjoy a piece of king cake and don't worry if you get the baby at the Plimsoll Club's Mardi Gras luncheon buffet during the week of February 16-20.

King cake and other carnival treats will highlight a menu that includes our carved items, soups and flambeed dessert station.

Celebrate the Crescent City's favorite time of year by lunching with us during this festive week for only $12.95.

Club Closed Lundi, Mardi Gras

The Plimsoll Club will be closed completely on Monday, February 23 and Tuesday, February 24 for Lundi Gras and Mardi Gras. The Club will reopen for lunch and dinner on Ash Wednesday, February 25.

WTC to Offer Free Introductory Export-Import Workshop to Members

The WTC will hold a free introductory workshop exclusively for WTC members to learn how to get started in exporting and importing. The workshop will be held on Friday, February 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the WTC's 29th floor Board Room, followed by an optional Dutch-treat networking luncheon in the Plimsoll Club for the participants.

The course will cover the role of freight forwarders, customs brokers, government agencies, trade associations, banks and attorneys; market research and agent-distributor selection; methods of payment; and transportation and documentation, including a clear explanation of the Incoterms (FOB, CIF, etc.), clearing Customs, and record-keeping compliance.

The workshop also will include a hands-on demonstration of the National Trade Data Bank, Internet foreign trade applications (including the use of the WTC website) and WTCA On-Line, the World Trade Centers Association's new Internet-based electronic communications and information service. The workshop will be conducted by WTC Managing Director Gene Schreiber, Manager of Trade Programs Alicia Den Beste, Membership Manager Natalie Rideau and George Young, the WTC's Webmaster and web design engineer with Microsoft Corp.

The workshop participants will receive free parking, a continental breakfast, a specially prepared workshop notebook and additional supplementary materials. Going to the theatre, the symphony or a Mardi Gras parade? We offer a delicious Early Evening menu from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays through Thursdays when a la carte dinner is offered.

Our Early Evening menu begins with starters such as crawfish cake with tartar sauce, grilled andouille sausage with turnip greens and black-eyed peas, soup du jour and Caesar and Plimsoll salads.

Our main courses provide a choice of Chicken Lafitte, Tilapia Pecan or Veal Piccata. Desserts include carrot cake, sherbet du jour, chocolate mousse or bread pudding with praline sauce.

The cost is $13.95 per person. Two hours of complimentary validated parking is included in this special price.

WTCA ON-LINE: Get Connected in 1998

WTCA ONLINE, the WTCA's Internet website (http://www.wtca.org), is a one-stop trade information hub for posting and reviewing trade opportunities, accessing valuable databases and communicating easily with newly found business prospects.

The site, which received 600,000 hits just last month, is a trade catalyst that garners resources from the combined power of over 300 WTC's worldwide and strategic alliances with private sector database and research vendors.

As a WTC member, you are able to post an unlimited number of trade opportunities on WTCA On-Line's Bulletin Board -- and read the trade opportunities posted by other members worldwide -- free of charge.

Other information products include a database of company profiles, Dun and Bradstreet's Exporters' Encyclopedia, WTCA World Business Directory, STAT-USA Trade Opportunities, and other useful resources, many of which are also free of charge.

Walker Tucei Elected World Trade Center President

The Board of Directors of the WTC has elected F. Walker Tucei, Jr. as President of the WTC for 1998. Tucei is Senior Partner of Arthur Anderson, L.L.P.
